GCast QuickStart Guide
What is GCast?
GCast is an online service that allows you to phone in a message or upload an audio file and then it publishes it in a podcast format. The service is free and extremely easy to use. Once you've created and set up your account, listeners can easily subscribe to your podcast using the podcatcher of their choice.
Getting Started
The steps to setting up your GCast podcast are quite simple. You'll create an account and set up your podcast channel.
Creating a podcast with GCast is simple. You can either upload and publish your audio files or you can call in your podcast. Either way, you'll be a podcaster in no time!

Call In Your Podcast Message
Before creating your own GCast account, I thought it would be nice if you were able to try the service using an account I've already created for you. By calling in to this account, your message will appear in the Your GCast widget on the right. Simply ask your instructor for the phone numbers and pin.

Create Your GCast Account
Creating an account with GCast is easy.
- Go to GCast
- Click on Sign Up Now link in upper right or click Create Your Podcast for Free link in middle of page.
- Fill out forms to set up your channel info and your phone info so you can call in.
Call In & Publish Your Podcast
For podcasts where you're the sole speaker and you don't really need anything fancy like background music or sound effects, calliing in with GCast is an easy way to be a podcaster.
- Dial the GCast toll-free number and follow the prompts
- Speak your message clearly
- Review your message and either re-record it or publish it by pressing the correct key
- Send the Feed URL to your friends so they can subscribe! Once they're subscribed, they will receive any new podcasts you publish.
Upload Your MP3 File and Publish Your Podcast
Instead of calling in your podcast message, you could upload a file you've recorded and edited using Audacity.

- Upload your file to GCast
- Publish your file from your playlist to your podcast channel
- Give the Feed URL to your friends so they can subscribe! Once they're subscribed, they will receive any new podcasts you publish.
